1930’s Art Deco Cabinet Refresh

The other day, I entered my local thrift store and there sat this rather sad looking cabinet. I say sad because it was placed along other pretty awful furniture and it deserved so much more! I had to bring it home but, of course, getting it home was another matter. If squeezed into the back of my Mazda with literally half an inch to spare, with my drivers seat moved as far up as humanly possible for me to fit and still use the pedals.

Look at the beautiful detail on it, and other than typical wear and scuffs, it was in good shape.

I really wanted to bring out its original beauty, and I did so using Orange Oil and Chalk Paint. The wood grain on the front just soaked in the oil. The sides were not in good shape, and there was a lot of scuffed wood. I used a wash of Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint in Coffee Bean on the sides and the details. I then rubbed it back to reveal the wood tone beneath on the sides.
