Dark and Drab to White and Bright - A Modern Makeover

I just finished this piece for a client and had to share it with you all. I think it turned out so well. It is truly a showcase for what a coat of paint can do!

Here is the “Before” pic:

And the “After”!

White Arhaus Cabinet in Fluff 6-min (2).jpg

The cabinet was originally purchased by my client from Arhaus Furniture, which is a quality brand. It just needed a brighter and cleaner look. We decided to go with the Dixie Belle color, Fluff. All I did to prep was to clean and very lightly scuff sand the piece. I could tell from the original finish that the paint would adhere nicely.

This was a commission piece, and my customer wanted the entire cabinet painted white, including the top. I was hesitant at first, but wow! When I finished, I saw that she was totally right with painting the top. The paint looked great on that textured wood.

I painted the interior with Dixie Belle paint in the color, French Linen (the same color I used on the little table HERE). The decorative grilles were given a little more glam by applying the Dixie Belle Gemstone Mousse in Gold. This is a great alternative to gold gilding wax, especially when you have a large area to cover.

I very lightly distressed a few edges. The interior was sealed with a clear coat in flat and the exterior with clear wax. The new drawer pulls were purchased from HomeGoods and they set the piece off perfectly.
