MY β€œNEW” BURGUNDY BUFFET

I was on my morning run last week and suddenly had the inspiration to paint my dining room buffet the deep reddish tone of the falling leaves.  The red color tones in better with the warmth of my table and china cabinet. I ran home (literally) and jumped in the car to talk to Celeste over at Catfish Studios.  She is my good friend and Annie Sloan stockist.  We played around a little and decided to take Primer Red and add a tiny bit of Burgundy to create that lovely, warm, deep red.  I also added a wash of burgundy on top of the mix as the first finish wasn’t quite deep enough without it.

To incorporate the gold tone of the season, I added gold highlights and free hand painted the gold leaf design onto the doors.  I then distressed it back and added both clear and dark waxes to give it an aged look.
