Budget Beauty: Step Inside Our Cottage Bedroom Renovation!

The Secretary Cottage Update

It has been a long two years (I can’t believe it has been that long!) since my husband and I purchased our century old cottage on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We love our cottage in the town of Secretary along the Warwick River. We have made true friends with our neighbors, and my husband joined the town council to get involved in our new community.

We commute to our cottage from our house closer in to DC, and we have spent all of our weekends working room by room to renovate our new home. One thing I have realized is that it is hard working on a house during the weekends! I tend to get really into a project as I’m working, and to pause it and have to start it up again the following weekend isn’t easy!

It is finally time to share at least ONE finished room (ok, we still need to put the closet door on, fix the vent cover and install the ceiling fan)! Every inch of this bedroom needed a budget-friendly makeover. The old plaster walls, the damaged hardwood floors, the crumbling ceiling and closet - it was a lot! I hope you like the transformation and please click the video play button below to see it all unfold.

The full list of where I purchased the items in the room can be found in the video description. They are all from thrift stores, auction houses, Facebook Marketplace, and a Wayfair splurge on the beds.

Thanks for watching! I will share our dining room next week. I’m not quite done with it!
